Furneaux Riddall & Co Ltd was founded in 1910 by Mr Furneaux and Mr Riddall. They designed and installed electricity plants in large country houses prior to the establishment of the National Grid, which led to an interest in 'accumulators' as a means of storing electricity and their appointment, in 1918, as Exide Battery Agents.

The company gradually changed emphasis from electrical engineering to the distribution of electrical products in the marine and automotive industries.

Furneaux Riddall is now one of the leading companies in the UK specialising in electrical products for these industries. It is the largest distributor in the UK marine market of VDO, ETA and Harvey Hubbell. It also imports from countries including Italy, Holland, Germany and the USA, depending on customers' requirements.

In 1976 the company began manufacturing rechargeable handlamps, with the 'White Knight' range of handlamps and later the Halo Plus torches.

The Halo Plus 2 lamp has been in production since 1990. It is used by the British, German and Swiss rail networks, as well as the Eurostar service and infrastructure companies.

It is now the market leader in supplying specialised lamps to all "Blue Light Services", Rail Networks, Military and Public Utilities, throughout the world.

Furneaux Riddall & Co Ltd's commitment to providing their customers with quality products and service, and value for money, was rewarded when the company achieved BS EN ISO 9001 certification in 2003.
